How do you present your proofs in your photography business? CD?

HI all, 2 qiestions: I'm trying to start a side business in photography - 1st question - I was trying to determine how to present my proofs after a session - should I give the client a cd to view, maybe save the files at 72 dpi and put a watermark ';proof'; across them? Or should I sell them the CD with high res photos to print themselves at a higher rate - is that even done these days?

2nd question: I don't want to short change myself but I suspect some of the folks contacting me are wanting pics for myspace and such and not intersted in print. And on that note, 2nd question: if they want myspace pics only - how do you present those and charge for those?

Thanks to all in advance for your answers! I've found this avenue for answers is GREATLY helpful! How do you present your proofs in your photography business? CD?
I use photoreflect. you can upload photos to a session and set a password (if the client doesn't want them public). they go online and order 24/7. You give photoreflect commission. It beats paying for a website monthly. You also have a portfolio on there. It's a good way to show off all your work (must get permission from clients to have photos public). Also, if someone tries to click on the image it gives a message about it being copywrited.

But I have been questioning this method. I have considered doing what you suggested and watermarking ';proof'; accross it an either emailing them or giving a CD. As far as giving them small photos for web, I think it's a great idea, but I'd put your company name on there somehow. A photographer on myspace used to put her photos on a big black background with extra space at the bottom with her logo. She has since changed her myspace or I'd tell you to go see it.

ps. if you give them a cd, definitely make them small so they can't print from them. You can also offer to give them a high res CD for a nominal fee (make it worth your while!!!) or tell them if they spend at least x amount that you'll give them a high res cd. but make sure that amount is very high!!

You don't want to come across as giving away your work. they will respect you more if you charge for the high res cd. and you will seem more professional. How do you present your proofs in your photography business? CD?
There are several different methods for showing proofs.

1) www.mpix.com has a proof book service.

2) Low res photo-CD. Make the images 800x600 and 72dpi, no larger.

3) Use a company like PhotoReflect. You can use one of their printers or fulfill the orders yourself.

4) You can give the high res images away, and I do from time to time, but once you do that you will not make any more money on printing images.

Internet image usage:

Figure out where, how large and the duration an image will be used. Charge based on that. If they only want to use it for a monthly promotion, then sell the usage at a monthly rate.

Here is a sample of online web usage fees. It's from London, UK, so prices are in pounds. You can convert and determine accordingly for your area.

My image is currentl 1754 x 2480 pixels and i need to change it to 300dpi how do i do that please?

I don't understand how to convert my image from 1754 x 2480pixels to 300dpi as I think that they are different ways of measuring an images size. I used gimp to create the jpeg, and I am attempting to change (increase) the resolution in Microsoft office picture manager but the problem is that the size/properties isn't in dpi's so i don't know what it is now or how to get it to 300dpi. I hope this makes senseMy image is currentl 1754 x 2480 pixels and i need to change it to 300dpi how do i do that please?
Dpi or Ppi is different from image size (in pixels). Pixels is image size, Dpi is image resolution. Go to ';Image'; tab, then ';Image size'; and change Dpi settings from there (look for Dpi not pixels).

PLEASE HELP!!! HOW DO YOU CHANGE THE RESOLUTION ON A PICTURE?

What are some programs I could use to change the resolution on a picture, to make it higher? Please help me I need it for a s chool project and I've tried everything you could possibly imagine but nothing works. I'm trying to print out the photo in 8';x10'; and I need the resolution to be high so the picture won't be blurry. Currently the picture is 840x1024 pixels and has a dpi of 230. is that okay if i want to print it out 8x10 or would i need to make the resolution higher????

PLEASE HELP!PLEASE HELP!!! HOW DO YOU CHANGE THE RESOLUTION ON A PICTURE?
You can't with what you have. It is sort of trying to paint a barn with just a gallon of paint.

Genuine Fractals does have a program that has been used by some people here successfully, but I have never tried it since I shoot all my images at the highest resolution that my cameras supportPLEASE HELP!!! HOW DO YOU CHANGE THE RESOLUTION ON A PICTURE?
Right now, your photo is about 3.5';x4.5'; and you're trying to increase it to 8';x10'; at a higher dpi? I'm sorry, but that won't work like you want it to. A good dpi to have for print is generally 300 dpi and although you're kind of close, your original image is too small. You can only increase dpi to make a image clearer if the original image is larger to begin with.

Maybe try to find the original image, which may have a dpi of 72 but the size will be a lot larger than 3.5';x4.5'; and then you can increase the dpi to 300.

Or you can send me the photo and I can take a look at it for you.

How can one change the font size of inbox and folders display in the New Yahoo Web Email client?

I know how to change the font for composing msgs and for displaying msgs. The problem is that there doesn't seem to be a way to tell the New Yahoo web email client to use a different (larger) font when displaying the list of folder contents (like Inbox) and the list of folders. The default display font for those is MUCH to small to comfortably view on a high res screen. Oh, and I DID use the Windows High DPI setting, but it doesn't seem to affect the font display for this app. Am using IE7.How can one change the font size of inbox and folders display in the New Yahoo Web Email client?

Is this a photo you have on your computer or is it online? Can you download the file if needed? What program are you using?

Or

This is simple to do, ask the photographer to do it.

---edit---

Okay, your original is too small. At the resolution listed, it would be about 150ppi when enlarged to 8x10. Some printers won't print an 8x10 at less than 200ppi and most prefer 300ppi for good quality.

You need a higher resolution picture from your photographer. How can i manually change resolution/size?
First off why do you need to change the size and what are you changing it for? If you are just going to print this you don't need to bother. Your computer or the machines at a processor will do it for you automatically. They will crop them automatically though. If you want to change the size for web use or to do any cropping yourself then you need an editing program of some sort. You can then specify the size or resolution you want them at.

Your camera can use a smaller resolution as well. On the menu just press the quality button and choose a smaller size. I don't recommend this because once it is small you can't make it bigger. You can always make it smaller though.
First of all, your image is not the proper proportion for 8x10. You will need to crop it on the long side to 1482x1186.

After you crop it (or while), you want to find the image size option in the menu of your photo-processing program. In Photoshop Elements, it's under Image/Resize/Image Size (not canvas). Click on constrain proportions and resample image and change the document size to 8x10.

Other programs will do it similarly, but the menu might be different.
Someplace in your photo editing program there has to be a RE-Size menu or button. Crop won't work as you know...

Re-sampling, re-sizing, it may have different names besides Crop. However, your sizes shown are well enuf for a 8x10 as they are.

A 8x10 normally needs at least 1600x2000 pixels to be good and your image is close enuf to make a fair, but maybe a lil pixelly, 8x10..

But, if you find where you can re-size the image in your program, you could tell the program to re-size the 1663 side to 2000 but make sure you have the Keep Aspect Ratio turn on and all will be fine and dandy. Don't worry about anything else except pixel count and then tell your image editing program you want a 8x10 to be printed and go for it. You should have a - Set Up - when you command the Print to start and in Set Up you will have the ability to position your image on your 'paper' as well as select the size of paper.

If, by some chance your image editing program does NOT allow these things, it is time my friend to get one that does...!

I have a website for my business and am having trouble with the photos on my site?

The photos on my website that I am creating looks fuzzy. How do I get them clear, like my original photos? Do I use 300 dpi or 72 dpi? Am I supposed to size by percentage or prixels?

After I insert the photo, I change the size, could this be what's wrong? Any suggestions will be great!I have a website for my business and am having trouble with the photos on my site?
that is certainly what's wrong; make sure to change the size and use an aspect ratio equal to that of the previous size (eg 200x200 goes to 400x400) NOT (200x200 goes to 200x300)I have a website for my business and am having trouble with the photos on my site?
When you change the size it affects the resolution. I suggest downloading a program called ifranview. You can get it at downloads.com.

This program lets you change the size of a picture and it affects the resolution as minimally as possible.

Use Photoshop. How do I make the font in firefox browser bold and big?
In the options on the content tab you change the default font and size. (tools - options in Windows, edit - preferences in Linux)

There's a check box to allow pages to use their font. Unchecking it forces the page to use your selection. I would also examine settings in your video card output. You may find changes in interlacing or progressive scanning, ';flicker'; adjustment and sharpness will help.

Internet images/videos are pixelated? ?

I'm not exactly sure when this started, but I've noticed that all of the pictures and videos I'm trying to look at on the internet come out pixelated. It's not my monitor, because it isn't every image, like my desktop icons. Those are fine. Even the Yahoo! logo is fine. It's only pictures and videos, like those that would show up in an image search. On YouTube, every video I look at is pixelated. I've tried changing my screen resolution, my dpi, even the Internet Options multimedia settings. Nothing has worked. Can anyone tell me how to fix this?Internet images/videos are pixelated? ?
It's not your computers fault. Sometimes when people upload things on the internet, the file is too big, so they have to make it smaller by giving a lower quality picture or video. This makes things more pixelated.

Yes putting low res 4x6 @ 72 DPI is a good way to go.

But first be sure you have added your copyright, contact information and clients data in the ';Image Info'; portion of the EXIF on each image file.

I use ';Bridge'; to append a XMP file to batch process each shoot.

Can any photography experts help me?

I have a Canon EOS 400D and am wanting to change the resolution on my camera from 72 DPI to 300 DPI but I'm not sure how!!

Can anyone tell me how I can do this? It will be very much appreciated! Can any photography experts help me?
The short answer is that any print of 8 x 12 inches (33 x 22 cm) or smaller will automatically be 300dpi. You can't change the dpi setting on your camera.

    Here's the long answer:

The dpi setting is a factory default. All Canon cameras have 72dpi, not just your 400D. What's more, your 400D will always save the file at 72 dpi, no matter what quality setting you use. For comparison, all Nikon cameras have 300 dpi, and other brands have other factory settings.

A lot of new users think that the dpi setting has something to do with the quality of the image file, or with its resolution. But this isn't the case - for resolution, the only thing that matters is the number of megapixels.

The dpi setting doesn't come into play until you print your images. 300 dpi is a magic number because that's considered glossy magazine quality. To achieve 300 dpi with your 400D prints, all you have to do is select a print size of 8x12 inches or smaller. When you do that, the dpi setting is automatically increased to 300dpi (or more).

This involves a bit of maths. If you're interested, here's how it works:

Your sensor has 3888 x 2592 pixels. I looked it up in the specs. (Multiply those two numbers and you get 10 megapixels)

For 300 dpi - dots per inch - you divide those numbers by 300:

    3888 pixels / 300 dpi = 12.96 inches by

    2592 pixels / 300 dpi = 8.64 inches

If you didn't select a print size, and this is what the factory setting of 72 dpi does, your print would be

    3888 pixels / 72 dpi = 54 inches by

    2592 pixels / 72 dpi = 36 inches.

So it's the same amount of megapixels, but the dpi setting changes the print size!

Now, before someone calls me out on this, there is a distinction between dpi (dots per inch) and ppi (pixels per inch), and there are reasons to treat these as distinct properties, but probably not for the casual shooter.

If you want to change and save the ppi setting of the file itself, you can do this in an image editor. In Photoshop this is under Image/ Image Size. Can any photography experts help me?
You may be able to change the number of pixels you capture at a time by selecting different formats within the camera, but DPI (dots per inch) is a function of onscreen and printer resolution.

    Change your printer settings.
You may have the setting for low resolution Jpegs set, choose a setting which gives you less compression,or shoot in RAW You will be able to do this by using the Menu button on the back and navigating through that.
When you import your Jpegs onto you're computer its your computer that saves them at 72 PPI (Pixels per Inch) not the camera.

Just make sure you're camera is set to the highest available resolution (usually a star system, the more stars the better) or better yet shoot Raw.

The PPI on the computer just tells it how big to lay out (plot) your picture on the computer it has no bearing on image quality. The PPI will vary automatically when you view you're pic in various sizes.

DPI (Dots per Inch) is set in the printer driver and will determine how big the picture file will print.

    Photoshop help?

    Hi,

I have designed a business card in photoshop (it is of the standard size 3.5x2). Now I need to change its resolution to 300 dpi minimum. I dont even know what its current resolution is (I'm very new to photoshop) so tell me how I can check that as well.

    Please help me with this.

    Thanks.Photoshop help?
For anything that is printed, you'll typically want to create it at 300dpi (sometimes you can get away with 250, but go 300 to be safe).

Like the previous poster mentioned, an image made at low resolution will look grainy when you scale it up/increase the resolution. So, be prepared to have to redo some elements once you've corrected the resolution.

Go to Image... Image Size... and under Document Size enter 300 in the resolution box. (And it will show you what resolution you are beginning with if you ever need to check it. )Leave ';resample'; checked (this is what will cause the initial decreased quality, but it is unavoidable if you are starting at a lower res) and make sure your document sizes are correct (3.5 x 2).

Now, go in and replace/update any items that didn't resample well. Some items will be fine (eg. if you have type layers, shape layers, or paths, those will adjust fine to the higher resolution), but some (for example, artwork or a photo you may have added) will look poor and need to be reimported/remade.

That's it. Hopefully you started at a higher resolution or don't have too much artwork to replace! Good luck.

    http://graphicssoft.about.com/od/photoshPhotoshop help?
Go to your ';image'; menu and go to ';image size';. under there you will see a box in which you can adjust your resolution. Good luck.
Oh.. oh.. what resolution was it when you created the business card? Hopefully it was more than 300 or at 300 dpi. cause you cant add resolution to a file. To check resolution: go under ';Image'; and down to ';Image Size'; it'll tell you there what the resolution is. Oh sure you can change the resolution number here in this spot. But if it wasn't created at a high enough resolution to begin with, you can't blame the printer if it prints out looking grainy. Even if it looks nice on a inkjet, that's no guarantee that it'll look good on a laserprinter.

The best way to change dpi or ';resolution'; is with an image-editing program like Photoshop. If that is not available to you, it may be possible to set your camera resolution to ';low'; or whatever the smallest setting is, and it may output your images to 72dpi (the standard for on-screen viewing). However, without info on your camera, it's impossible to say how this might be done. How do i make photo that is 185 dpi become a photo that is 150 dpi?

How to increase picture resolution so you can get bigger prints?

I took a picture with my Nikon digital camera. I looked at the image with my costco photo viewer and it was 288x 360 pixels. I want to submit this picture to for a personalized gift, in which the picture will need to be blown up to an 8x10. I stretched the current picture to an 8x10 and it was ok, but blurry. The website reccomends uploading photos that are around 2000 pixels with 300 dpi. How can I change my current picture to make it more suitable to upload. I obviosley know nothing about cameras, so thanks for the help. How to increase picture resolution so you can get bigger prints?
What setting do you have your camera on. That resolution is only 1 megapixel. You can up the resolution of your photo in a photo editing program, but there's no point. Your computer will be creating those extra required pixels, but it has absolutely no idea what color they should be. Instead, it'll just make them the same color as the pixels next to it, resulting in the blocky look. Actually, that's basically what the printer is doing when it makes your photos from the 288x360 images. Sorry to say, these photos can not be saved. Computers aren't magic.

At 300dpi a 4x6 photo should be 1200x1800 pixels. That's 2.2 megapixels. From now on you should make sure your camera is set to take at least 2.2 megapixel images. How to increase picture resolution so you can get bigger prints?
Not from that size you have. (How did it get that small in the first place?) It is so small that you can't even get a very sharp 4 x 6 print.

Can it be retake? Use the highest resolution your camera can record, and leave it at that.

I am using the 2003 version of powerpoint. I would really appreciate your help!!!How do I increase the resolution of powerpoint files saved as pictures?
    Hi,

Only the Mac version of PowerPoint allows you to specify the resolution of presentations slides saved as pictures as well as individual slide objects saved as pictures.

Open your presentation in PowerPoint 2004. On the PowerPoint menu choose Preferences. Click the Save tab. In the lower part of the preference pane you'll see ';Advanced Resolution Settings.'; These control the output for saving your slides as pictures, as well as saving individual objects as pictures (right click %26gt; save as picture).

The control lets you specify dpi or pixels, but there are limitations based on the type of file you save as.

    Here are the maximums:

    TIFF 72dpi

    JPEG 72dpi

    PICT 1200dpi

    PNG 300dpi

    BMP 72dpi

    GIF 72dpi

All windows versions of PowerPoint are locked at 72 dpi.

You can also use Visual Basic Macros in Mac PowerPoint if you need to automate this task.

Your resolution is probably wrong. If you have a widescreen display and you have a 4:3 resolution, then everything will be stretched. If its all set correctly then it won't stretch.

Most likely you need to get the drivers from either nvidia.com or ati.com depending on your graphics chip. Then you should max out your resolution, and hopefully the issue will be resolvedI hate widescreen window vista, how do i change it to the normal screen%26gt;?

Does anyone know how to change the color depth of a image ???

i would like to change the color depth of a image i have and in order for me to be able to use it i need to change it to a specific color depth and dpi.

I have adobe photoshop cs2 and jasc paint shop pro studio.

Could somebody help me please ?Does anyone know how to change the color depth of a image ???
Jpeg's and probably most tiff images are 8-bit. With CS2, Image %26gt; Mode and you can select 16-bit but you probably will not see any difference.

You can change the ppi (dpi) by menu Image %26gt; Resize %26gt; Resize Image. Uncheck the ';resample'; box. Now you can change the ';resolution'; to 300 ppi. Depending on the image size you may be able to print it or it might look terrible. If you want or need to, go back to the Image Resize, check the resample, and in the top part of the dialog window, change pixels to percent. Make sure the constrain proportions is checked. and enter 110 for the percent. Keep upsizing in this fashion until you get to the size you need.

Remember, the size you need in pixels is 240-300 times the size in inches that you want to print. 4 x 6 therefor 1200 x 1800 at 300 ppi.Does anyone know how to change the color depth of a image ???
Once a color has been downgraded from a higher dpi - 200 to a lower resolution - 72 dpi - it's impossible to take it back up. Sort of like converting color to b/w. Unless you save a copy, you can't go back.

I psp to covert it down, go to image%26gt;decrease color depth. I forget the command on Photoshop but look for something similar.
I don't know about photoshop, but in paint shop pro, on the top of the page, click on Image, then click on Increase Color Depth. Once there, choose the highest setting. I'm sure that things are pretty similar in photoshop.

    Questions about DPI in pictures?

What causes DPI in pictures to go down when editing pics in photoshop? using filters or ';contrast';? resizing pics? if i turn up the ';contrast'; on a pic from 0 to 100, does that change the quality of the pic or DPI? how can I be sure to keep the quality of the pic in photoshop? is there a certain way to export the pic?

ANY help will be greatly appreciated! Thanks

    Questions about DPI in pictures?
As the name implies it is the number of dots in 1 square inch on printer output or on a display monitor. Its often discussed as resolution. But photo resolution is better described as pixels per inch which may be different than the DPI output which could be used to describe a printers resolution. Using filters and changing contrast should not change your DPI . Resizing can change the DPI in photshop go to Image-resize image and in a box there it will tell you your DPI

300 DPI means how many PPI?

Hi, I'm using Photoshop Elements, and I need to make a photo 300 DPI. In PSE, it only lets you change PPI...so I'm wondering how do I make sure it's 300 dpi? Can you convert it, like 300 dpi = ??? ppi?300 DPI means how many PPI?
dpi stands for ';dots per inch'; -- ppi stands for ';pixels per inch';. They essentially mean the same thing. dpi comes from printing, ppi comes from imaging. If you set ppi in photoshop, you are creating the dpi equivalent.300 DPI means how many PPI?
Right on. But Smithsonian magazine doesn't understand the distinction.

Are you submitting electronically? If so, you will never be dealing with dpi. Chances are, they made a technical error is requesting ';dpi'; output in a jpg that will be sent as an e-mail attachment.

If they want a print, you can set the ppi to 300 and use the highest quality settings on your printer and it will come out the way they want.
You might want to read this: http://www.rideau-info.com/photos/mythdp

Especially see the section DPI vs PPI (although you may find the whole article helpful).

But to highlight the main point of the article... DPI (or PPI -- in this context they mean the same thing) was used by some older image editing software to determine the size of the print. Although advanced software such as Photoshop, GIMP etc still allow this feature, it is no longer required for setting the print size. And it is certainly not used by browsers for determining the on screen display size.

It can be useful to know the very simple maths involved so you can have an idea of the print quality when printing an image at any specific size.. but it is not required to know this. And it is pretty much meaningless to pay attention to or to change the DPI of an image for 2 reasons.. firstly it has nothing to do with the resolution of an image (that is determined by pixel dimensions - commonly referred to as it's megapixel count). Secondly, as I already mentioned it is no longer required for setting the print size.. since image editing software have better and easier ways to do this (often found in the 'print preview' dialog).

But if you must set the DPI in order to keep the competition people happy, be sure to turn off 'resampling' prior to making the change.. otherwise the pixel dimensions will be altered -- which could negatively affect the image's quality.
in image editor, check size for print, pixels, and resolution,

view print options as is, for dots per inches, if image is already adjusted to 300 卤, then it is ok,

if image resolution setting is 72/92/144 ppi or other, with the image size in inches the same XbyY size, change resolution ppi, but keep image size ppi, but test print output setting for dpi, if ok, save copy of original

How do i disable my mouse from switching dpi?

okay. i have a mouse with a dpi button on top of it. that's not the problem, as i rarely bump it. the problem is that when both mouse buttons are held down for say, 4 or 5 seconds, it changed between the two settings. this is VERY frustrating, as that is how i run in most games. it is the only way i can comfortably play, as a left handed person. anyway, there HAS to be a way to turn this off. any ideas? How do i disable my mouse from switching dpi?

How can I get a 6x6in photo on an 8x10 sheet so I can print it at a professional lab w/ out a custom size?

I have a frame that I want to put the photo in. I already re-sized it so that it has a a 1:1 ratio (i.e. it's square) in IrfanView. I want to print it at a professional lab, but they only print in custom sizes. So, I'd like to have a 6x6in photo print with enough white border around so that it is an 8x10 (2 inches on one side and 4 on the other). What programs can do this? I have GIMP, Irfanview, Photoscape. do I need to change the pixels, the DPI? It hasn't been working for me and any help is appreciated!!!!!How can I get a 6x6in photo on an 8x10 sheet so I can print it at a professional lab w/ out a custom size?
In GIMP just go to File - New and enter in a new canvas size, in your case 8 x 10. Be sure the resolution matches your 6 x 6 photo. Then just drag and drop your 6 x 6 into the 8 x 10 canvas and have it printed as such.

steveHow can I get a 6x6in photo on an 8x10 sheet so I can print it at a professional lab w/ out a custom size?
Well you can fool them and have the whole 8x10 print made with white borders. That is place the 6x6 inch image on a 8x10 inch canvas in your photo program. The print will then be 6x6 with a one inch and two inch with borders on it.

Artists do this all the time.

The DPI should always be at least 240, but better 300 for photographic prints. Always use the highest resolution the image file can support.... this starts with setting your camera to its highest resolution when shooting any subject.
    I agree with fhotoace.

Does higher DPI mean a better quality print? &where can I get professional prints?

I am a photographer and am starting to sell my prints. I have a Canon 300D so my photographs are 6.3mp (3072pixels by 2048 pixels) at the minute. (I have just purchased a Canon 500D so my new images will be 15.5mp) I have checked the DPI on one of my old images by going to ';image size'; and looking at ';resolution'; and it says 96. I read somewhere that prints will be better quality if the DPI is higher so I changed it to 350. Will this actually improve my prints? Will it make any difference at all and if so how?

Also, if anyone knows where I can order online (UK only) to get professional high quality prints that would help a lot. I've been looking at Jessops because I know they are a proper camera store but I've heard their printing is not excellent quality. I'm looking for 7 by 5 at the minute or just ordinary A4 sized prints.

Thanks in advance, =)Does higher DPI mean a better quality print? %26amp;where can I get professional prints?
Before you to anything, make sure that your computer monitor is calibrated. If it is not, there is no way it will match any prints a lab will print for you.

300 DPI is the standard photographic print setting. Less with result in lower resolution images.

150 DPI is what is used on screened print in high quality magazines and books

80 DPI is typical of the screened print in newspapers

72 DPI is what your computer screen resolution is.

As you can see, the smaller the DPI, the less resolution you can expect.

DPI over 300 DPI is not recommended.

You really should be talking to your printer. They will tell you exactly which image file settings are the best when using them to make prints. You can do a test with the Jessops lab using image files set to 300 DPI and see if they meet you quality standards .... or not. Otherwise, look for a custom or professional lab in your area.

Usually when looking for a lab, we use a known image file and have three or four different labs print the image file and then compare them to our known standard. Differences in colour balance and resolution can then be determined. To assure that you do not send image files that may be out of gamut, shoot in the sRGB colour space.Does higher DPI mean a better quality print? %26amp;where can I get professional prints?
    DPI = dots per inch

So 300dpi means that when its printed out, it will be scaled on the paper so that 300 pixels cover 1 inch. It is tied into how big the physical print will be.

You can print you images as very small (and high detail), or very large (low detail).

So, for your example of 3072x2048 pixels.

If you print it as 300DPI, it will be printed at 10 x 6.5 inches

However, if you print it at 150DPI, then it will be 20 x 13inches

Since the 300dpi has 300 pixels in one inch, then it will look better at closer inspection.

But 150dpi for putting on the wall is absolutely fine as you don't stand right up next to it.

    In PS.,....

    1) do set image size

    2) note down your pixel dimensions

    3) change the DPI to 150-200

    4) and reset your resolution to original values.

--%26gt; the image won't be rescaled, the DPI (and hence print size) will just change
DPI stands for DOTS PER INCH.

When printing, that's how many tiny dots will be put onto the paper. It's not very useful with a digital image onscreen, since the screen is counting pixels (like 3072x2048)...however it's critical in printing.

Make sure you print with at LEAST 300 - 600 dpi if available. While this isn't the only factor in making a quality print, it can often be the most noticeable.

Think of it this way...if you're printing your 3072x2048...that translates to 6,291,456 pixels (or as printed, dots). You'd have to have nearly 200,000 dots per square inch to get every last pixel on a 5x7 card...not gonna happen. 600 should be plenty though, as the size you're working with anything smaller would be nearly invisible to the naked eye anyways.

    Computer Help Please!?

Okay, so I kind of made a little mistake while trying to fix a little problem with my computer.

See, I was trying to fix this stupid little font problem with my computer. When I made a little quote graphic, the font would appear all weird.

So I looked around and try to fix that and ending up with a huge problem, to me.

I searched in my Help section of the computer and found that I could change something called the DPI, or something of that sort. I have no clue what so ever of what it is, so I go to it anyways.

I change the font appearance to 125% from 95%.

Then I made the changes and it wasn鈥檛 what I expected.

So now I got back to it and try to put it back to 95%, but then it shows up with a message window saying I need to insert the Windows XP CD. But unlucky for me, I don鈥檛 even have it because this computer was a custom computer and they didn鈥檛 even give me it.

So now I鈥檓 wondering if anyone knows how to turn my computer DPI or whatever back to 95% without the disk. I鈥檝e already tried running my computer in safe mode and trying to change it back them. But then it showed the window again saying I needed to contact the computer administer. I was already on the administer account though.

If anyone knows how to do this, PLEASE help me.

You should not have accepted the computer without a disc.
It sometimes asks that question but read it. Cause you don't have to use the disk. Its a choice question, just say no or yes, I forgot the actual question. I get it all the time so I am use to ignoring it.
Dosent matter if the computer was custom built, xp was installed on your computer with the xp cd
Here's a handy guide. May not be helpful though: http://www.lawfirmsoftware.com/support/c

Also, go back to the person who you bought the computer from and demand a Windows XP install Disc. They may have given you an illegal copy of Windows XP. Come with your receipt and do not let them make you pay for it. It should have came with the computer.

But I have no idea how to change it to spot colors. How can i scan a photo with 800 dpi and spot colors(?) and save as an EPS file and keep it under 5MB???
Who is the person you are trying to send it to... is he a print shop? I'm not exactly sure why, he would request a EPS file, as if I remember correctly they are mainly for Vector images, which means there shouldn't be resoultion in the image.

Your best bet would to save your file as TIFF as that should be better choice of file format for pictures for 800-1200dpi.

Can you explain what type of image your are trying to send? and how big (size measurement) is the picture?

Because 800dpi of 4x4 inch is different than 800dpi of 8x8 inch picture.

Need help understanding the DPI of my photos?

I just now got a new digital camera and I'm not an expert or anything so I'm trying to learn about how to use it. I've been taking pictures with it and then I go to look at the dpi and it's always 96 x 96. Is it supposed to be that way? I've tried changing the settings on the camera and everything but nothing changes. Am I doing something wrong or what. Thanks for all answers.Need help understanding the DPI of my photos?
This is a complex subject that is widely misunderstood. But I will try this simple explanation!

. Your camera records pictures with virtual colored dots called pixels.

. By themselves, pixels don't have size. They only get size when we try to display or print them.

. Pixel size is expressed as Pixels Per Inch (PPI). (DPI is really about Drops Per Inch of printer ink.)

. We can set PPI to any size we want, but if the pixels get too big the print will look bad.

. Camera manufacturers just set a default. Yours set 96 ppi. You can change it, but not in the camera. You have to use the photo editing software in your computer. Look for the Resize function.

Make sure that you have the Resolution set in your camera for the largest size. That will you the most pixels to work with when you want to print. You can always downsize with the Resize function if you want to make a smaller image for emailing.

Have Fun!!Need help understanding the DPI of my photos?
DPI (Dots per Inch) is how inkjet printers level of quality are measured. It has over the years defined the quality of images on a computer screen, the minimums set to guarantee non-pixelated photographic prints, just to name a few.

Generally you want to shoot the original image using the highest quality image and then adjust to specific needs later using a photo editing program.

The generally accepted max resolution that can be seen on a computer monitor is 72 although theoretically, there are some monitors that will resolve 96.

The minimum recommended DPI setting for images that are going to be printed is 300DPI and up. DPI values can usually be adjusted using a photo program, sometimes with the program that was shipped with your camera ... but not always. Most cannot afford to run out and purchase Photoshop CSII or CSIII, so we can purchase Adobe Photoshop Elements 5 and get about 99% of what we need when editing our photos.

I can only speak from my experience with Nikon DSLR's, so here it goes. To get the most resolution from a JPEG image, you first have to set the image using the options in the Menu to Fine and image size to Large. These two settings are usually (but not always) the way you can control the quality of your images ... in camera.

How do I change my photos to 300dpi?

I am submitting my artwork to my college newspaper but It has to be in 300 dpi. Right now it comes out as 72 dpi. What can I do please im desperate, I need help!!!!How do I change my photos to 300dpi?
Part of the equation is missing here. You did not tell us the size of the image that is 72 dpi.

To increase dpi, you must reduce the size of the image.

For example, if your camera stores photos at 36'; x 27'; (72 dpi):

    at 50% you get 18'; x 13.5'; (144 dpi)

Cut in half again, and you have a 9'; x 6.75 (288 dpi and getting closer!) I should think that this size would be more than sufficient to send to the paper. They can reduce it even further, thus increasing the dpi with each reduction.

Therefore, as long as your images at 72 dpi are pretty large, there will be more than enough resolution to accurately reproduce the artwork.

KabumHow do I change my photos to 300dpi?
You can't. It will be distorted, you don't have enough pixels to make it come in clear. Can you take the pictures again? Re-set your camera to shoot at 3 mpx.
You'll probably have to resample it in a photo editing program such as photoshop (paint.net and gimp are free and should work)

If so, the art you scan into your computer will be very large with at least 300dpi and you'll be able to open it in photoshop as long as you scan to jpg.
Go in the scannet setup. Change the option to 600 dpi if oyu want a high quality scan. That's it. You will see 150, 200, 300, 600 etc... choose 600.

Since I had already saved the same file before that to 72 is the file really 72 dpi instead? Did it save my file permanently as a true 72 dpi and will I have to start over?Question about saving a file in 300 dpi on Adobe Illustrator?
No, you won't have to start over.

DPI on a digital image does not really mean anything to how it is shown. DPI only matters if you either scan an image (where a high DPI will give you a high resolution image) or print one (where high DPI will make a smaller printout). So if your image won't be printed, you don't have to care about DPI settings.

If you do have to print it, don't worry. Changing the DPI should be as easy as just opening the file and change it. This won't alter the quality of the image (unless, of course, you save it with a lossy compression such as jpg).

Resampling from 72 to 300 DPI won't work well. The image will become pixelated, and if you try to smooth it out it will just become blurry. The problem is you need to make pixels where there are none, so the program is forced to expand on existing ones - you need the detail in the first place.

Sure you can, just change the 72 to 300 dpi and resave the image. on your screen you cannot visibly see the difference, but if you saved at 72dpi it would not be print quality. That is where you would see the difference.

How do you change compression ratio for jpeg files?

I need to provide picture files that are 300 dpi, (no problem) and saved at a 10 to 12 compression rate. I can not find out what rate my files are now and how to change it if need be. I have checked the properties of the files and no info is there regarding this. Hope someone can help! I have looked up many sites explaining what compression ratios are and the scientific blah blah blah, but nothing on how to just check it and change it.

Thanks! How do you change compression ratio for jpeg files?
There is actually no universal standard for jpeg compression. Your printer is most likely referring to Photoshop quality ratings, which range from 1 to 12. Other programs use a 1 to 100 scale. In most image processing software, selecting ';save as'; brings up a dialog box that includes a choice of picture quality. Unless you have a serious problem with the resulting file size, just choose the highest quality setting.

The first photo I checked is slightly larger than a 9'; x 12'; with a resolution of 72 ppi (pixels per inch).

To res this up to 300 ppi with expecting it to any type of quality is an impossible task. You will end up with pixelated artifacts in your photograph that will not be pleasing to the eye. Sorry to have to be the one to break the news to you.

These photos need to be taken again with a camera that can give you a higher resolution, or scanned at a higher resolution.

Here are some tutorials regarding enlarging photos, although they will not help you to this extent.

The only way you can do this is to find your original file and see what size it is. There is no way to convert these images to any thing larger than about 10%. and in any case they were saved at 72DPI for use for posting on websites or attaching to email

When shooting with digital cameras, is it recommended that all image files be shot at the highest resolution and size the camera will support. If that is not done and the photographer comes up with an award winning image, there is no way to later make the file larger.

This is why I shoot all my images as RAW + JPEG basic. The basic JPEG is good enough for editing (sorting) my images and then when I determine which of them will be submitted to the client, I can make a good high resolution JPEG (3.5MB or larger) or TIFF (around 35MB) for their use.
well the first thing I would like to ask is what type of camera did you use these on? what are the mega pixels _ you have to know that before you can re-size them- because a lot of times what tends to happen is that if you bought/used a camera with let's Say mega pixels the picture could come out very pix-elated when trying to blow them up- but if you have like a 8 mega pixel camera the quality of the picture will come out better. A lot of time the camera's resolution is be in the info that you bought th camera with.

Now if you want to try this and see how your pictures come out you can: open photoshop/ file-open-(choose the photo file)/ go to image-image size (dialog box will open)- in the dialog box go down to res. (type in 300-if not already), then go back up two tabs ( where the measurements will be measured in inches not percents (type in 8.5 in the first box (if landscape make this box 11) and then go down to the second box and type in the other dimension.

Now the image will be blown up so do pay attention to that- try printing the image out and see what it looks like that way!!

or- if your camera is already a high resolution camera- just go in the image printing wizard a dialog box should come up and you just choose the size photo you want to print it as.

    Good Luck!!!!!

    Getting Rid of Small Font?

How do I get web pages to fit onto my screen?

Many web pages are too large to fit on my screen, and I have to constantly scroll left to right to read them. It's really annoying. I only have two choices for screen resolution - 800 by 600 pixels and 1024 by 768 pixels. I can't seem to modify the resolution to anything else. Right now the monitor is set to 800 by 600 pixels. MY DPI is set at Normal Size (96 DPI). My monitor is a Dell E551c.

All I want is to have a normal sized web page that fits onto the screen. I don't want a tiny display that fits but is way too small, such as hitting Ctrl -. I've tried several combinations of changing screen resolution and DPI settings, but haven't found one that works. I've also looked for drivers, but it keeps saying that my drivers are up to date.

Any ideas???How do I get web pages to fit onto my screen?
You need a bigger monitor than your 15 inch dell.

It was designed for 800 by 600 and that is the whole display. Most web pages are designed with at least 800 by 600 web page size so when you add in the browser address bar, status bar etc, scrolling is needed.

To put a lot of info (a whole web page) on a small space (a dell 15 inch monitor) requires a small font or a lot of scrolling. Your eyesight cant handle small fonts and your hands dont like the scrolling so get a new larger monitor.

Get at least a 19 inch flat panel. The video tube 19 inchers are hulking beasts and not desk-friendly. After 3 minutes, you will wonder how you could have ever used that 15 inch screen. How do I get web pages to fit onto my screen?

The pics you take are probably really large 72dpi images. Just open Photoshop and click on image/image size. In the image size window be sure that 'constrain proportions' is checked and resample image is unchecked. Then change your dpi to 300 and you will be all set!

If you need to enlarge the image further at 300 dpi, do it in increments of about 5% each time until you reach the image size you are seeking.
Don't worry about it. I did my own study of this problem with several different cameras. I wait for the opportunity to send this answer about once a month, so thanks for asking.

You can not control the pixels per inch in your camera, as this is a function of the sensor. I have found the following ppi for SOME cameras by the following manufacturers. I wonder if this specification is available anywhere. I have four camera manuals in front of me and I can't find it in any of them.

    NIKON - 300 ppi

    CANON - 180 ppi

    PENTAX - 72 ppi

We ';discussed'; this by way of question and answers a while back and decided that the ppi file produced by the camera really did not have any effect on the capability to produce a good print. If I take a photo with my wife's 6 MP Nikon and view the image on the screen, it will start out as 300 ppi. If it's a full frame image of 3008 pixels x 2000 pixels, the SCREEN image would be pretty big if I viewed it full sized, but it would print 10.0'; x 6.6';. If you crop a 5x7 out of this, keeping it as full-frame as possible, it becomes 400 dpi.

With my brother's 6 MP Pentax, the image is 2816 px x 2112 px, but it's at 72 ppi. If you print this without cropping, it would be 39'; x 29';!!! If you crop a 5x7 out of this, though, it becomes 402 dpi resolution, which is virtually identical for the Nikon 6 MP camera.

With my son's 6 MP Canon Powershot A620, the image is 3072 px x 2304 px, but it's at 180 ppi. If you could possibly print this without cropping, it would be 17.1'; x 12.8';. If you crop a 5x7 out of this, though, it becomes 439 dpi resolution, which is a bit better than either of the other 6 MP cameras.

In other words, regardless of the sensor's pixel-per-inch output, 6 MP cameras produced the same resolution when it came time to print comparable images. How about a camera with more pixels?

If I take a photo with my 10 MP Nikon D200 and view the image on the screen, it will start out as 300 ppi. If it's a full frame image of 3872 pixels x 2592 pixels, the SCREEN image would be pretty big if I viewed it full sized, but it would print 12.9'; x 8.6';, if I had the right paper. If you crop a 5x7 out of this, keeping it as full-frame as possible, it becomes 516 dpi, or higher resolution than the 6 MP cameras. We knew that is would work out like this, though, didn't we?

The REAL question is, what difference does this make in the real world? If we agree that 300 dpi is an excellent resolution for prints, as long as you end up with at least 300 ppi after you are done cropping on the screen, you will get an excellent print as far as resolution goes. All four cameras exceed that amount. I usually resize ';down'; to 300 dpi before printing, because you can't tell the difference above that resolution anyway. Most people would be quite happy with a 200 dpi print, so go ahead and crop a bit. If you get a print resolution too much below 200 dpi, you will start to see digital artifact in the print and it will be objectionable.

On the right hand side you will see (Size Setting summary) that is the actual size of you picture. Right above you will see resize settings, from the drop box you can choose sizes choose email and you are done, ready to email it.

Either use Photoshop or GIMP. Both of these allow you to change the resolution of the image. But a big problem persists. If you are trying to increase the DPI of an image say from 72dpi to 300dpi. Then you are going to have some serious image clarity issues.

    -----

So, if your goal is an excellent print with dots that are small enough that they are no longer distinguishable as individual dots without magnification, you need to print at 300 dpi. You can go down in resolution to 200 dpi and still have satisfcatory results. The resolution of 200 or 300 dpi is NOT a function of the camera beyond the degree that I have discussed above. It is determined by the software you are editting your pictures with and you usually have enough size to work with using any camera at or above 6 MP to get decent pictures.

Working this out is easy once you understand the concept of print resolution. If you want 300 dpi, just do the math.

    4'; x 6';

    4 inches x 300 dots per inch = 1,200 dots

    6 inches x 300 dots per inch = 1,800 dots

    1,200 dots x 1,800 dots = 2,160,000 dots or 2.2 MP

    5'; x 7';

    5 inches x 300 dots per inch = 1,500 dots

    7 inches x 300 dots per inch = 2,100 dots

    1,500 dots x 2,100 dots = 3,150,000 dots or 3.2 MP

    8'; x 10';

    8 inches x 300 dots per inch = 2,400 dots

    10 inches x 300 dots per inch = 3,000 dots

    2,400 dots x 3,000 dots = 7,200,000 dots or 7.2 MP

I will let you substitute 200 for 300 and do the math on these charts to see what the minimum acceptable resolutions for the various sizes would be.

    4'; x 6'; - 960,000

    5'; x 7'; - 1,400,000

    8'; x 10'; - 3,200,00How do I change picture settings on Sony Alpha 100?
    change the quality setting

refer to manual to see how to set it
You can't change that in-camera, nor should you be worried about it. The pixel count determines how much resolution you have. The DPI setting is just an instruction for your monitor or printer, that tells it how closely together to display those pixels.

When you make/ order prints, you normally specify the desired size for your prints, and this automatically overrides the default setting of 72 dpi.

The Sony A100 has a maximum resolution of 3872x2592 pixels. At 72dpi this would result in a 54x36 inch print! (3872 pixels / 72 dots per inch = 53.8 inches)

At 300dpi, you get a 13x8.6 inch print.

And if your prints are smaller than that, theoretically you're using a setting that's even higher than 300dpi.

I'm not entrely sure if there aren't some special provisions Canon may have taken for this, but in general i think this won't be possible.

The camera just gives you a picture measured in pixels. How many pixels per inch (dpi) you make out of that is entirely your business, the camera doesn't mess with that. So this is not an issue that needs to be addressed in the camera, but in photoshop. There you should be able to change the dpi of the image.
Large is how many pixels there are regarding size. Like my table is 17'; X 14';. You're large picture may be 35000 pixels X 28000 pixels. That is one measurement in itself; physical size.

DPI means how dense the pixels print. If you look close at a newspaper you can see the little dots, that might be 72DPI but a nice magazine looks smooth, that might be 300+. This is a measurement diffrent but normally correlational to size.

To change the DPI you need to find it buried in the anals of the menu system somewhere. I can't tell you about your specific model but the owner's manual can.

Is it possible to change the settings on this camera to reflect a high-rez photo? How do you change the Sony Cybershot DSC-P10 settings to capture images that are 300 dpi?
Cameras all have a default DPI setting - different for each brand - but you can override that setting in an image editor when you make prints. That's all the DPI setting is: in instruction for the printer. DPI doesn't say anything about the quality of the picture file itself.

The Sony DSC-P10 is limited to 5-megapixels, with a maximum resolution of 1944 x 2592.

At 300 DPI, your prints will be:

    1944/300 = 6.5 inches by

    2592/300 = 8.6 inches

If you settle for a tad less DPI, you should still be able to make fantastic 8x10 inch prints. How do you change the Sony Cybershot DSC-P10 settings to capture images that are 300 dpi?
It's not the camera that determines the dpi, it is the software you use to open up the photo file. Generally, photo editing software will default to 72 dpi.

OK...First, make sure your camera is taking photos at its highest quality.

The rule is that the background and all photos that are placed on that background must be the same resolution. It's not difficult but it seems kind of mysterious at first;-)

If you're going to use a new document for the background, just make sure Resolution in the New File dialog is 300 pixels/inch.

    For your photos:

Image%26gt;Resize and a dialog pops up. This dialog has three sections: Print Size, Pixel Dimensions and Advanced Settings. In Print Size, Resolution = 300 Pixels/inch. If if says some other number, change it.

You're probably not used to working with Pixel Dimensions so we'll ignore it.

Make sure Advanced Settings is checked. Check Resample Using and select Smart Sample from the drop down. Check Lock Aspect Ratio. Check Reset All Layers.

Depending on the size of your poster (I hope it's not too much bigger than your photos), you might have to use the middle section - increase the pixel dimensions. Stretching a small photo using the Move Tool tends to distort it although PSP does a better job of it than Photoshop.

If you need a much bigger photo go back to Image%26gt;Resize again, leave all the other settings alone, and, working in the Pixel Dimensions section, increase the height or width X2. You only have to do one or the other but not both because the aspect ratio is locked so if one changes the other will change just the right amount - Yea!:-) If the poster you're supposed to make is a lot bigger than your photos, you might do this one more time but doing it more than twice might distort your photo. Try it and if it doesn't work, there's always the good old Undo icon.

You'll get used to the Image%26gt;Resize dialog. It's the second thing everyone who edits photos does right after they make a duplicate to work on. (Rule One: Never work with the original photo)

I have several photos and documents that were scanned into a computer. I have to convert them from .tif to jpeg. Also, can the dpi be changed once they are scanned? They need to be at 400 dpi for the project I am working on.

I would really appreciate help with this one as it is a family history project that is really important! How do I convert .tif to .jpg?

How do I change the CMYK color format to atleast 300 dpi in MicroSoft Picture It?

When you go to save the picture you should be able to select a dpi. If not, you should have been able to select a resolution when you first created the image. CMYK should not have anything to do with it since that is just the color palette and you are talking about resolution here.

Hope this points you in the right direction.

  • How do you change the jpeg quality to 12 and dpi to 300 on paint shop pro?

need to do it so that invitations aren't blurry when printedHow do you change the jpeg quality to 12 and dpi to 300 on paint shop pro?
Yes, you do need those for good prints. First, you should create the invitations with the resolution at 300 from the start. Please remember this for next time. For now, Image%26gt;Resize. In the dialog that opens, in the bottom section, be sure that the three at the bottom starting with Maintain Original Print Size are checked. It is very important that Resample Using is UNCHECKED. Up in the top section of the dialog change the Resolution to 300 and make sure the units are Pixels per inch. Check the Width and Height in the Print Size section to make sure they're what you need. Click OK.

Next, File%26gt;Export%26gt;JPG Optimizer. There are a bunch of tabs along the top. In the Quality tab, change the compression to 12. Don't worry about the Chroma Subsampling (or any of the other tabs). Click OK and print your invitations.

Is it possible to change small graphics around 74 dpi to 300 dpi and then enlarge them without blurring?

Hello everyone, I'm not that knowledgeable about how to work with quality settings of a graphic. I have one that is about 74 dots-per-inch, and I have to set in 300 dot-per-inch, that's easy--but I need to know if I enlarge the graphic in its 300 dpi form, will it blur or look all 'pixelly', that is, if I stretch it up to to 8.5 inches x 11.5? (It's for a full bleed book cover.) How do I enlarge small graphics without blurring them anyway?

Thank you for your help!Is it possible to change small graphics around 74 dpi to 300 dpi and then enlarge them without blurring?
The dpi setting doesn't change the image quality.

Let's say you have a tiny 10x10 image. That means it has 100 pixels (or points, or dots, whatever you want to call them)

Now you stretch it to 100x100 Now you have 10,000 pixels. So 9,900 of the pixels have to be guessed at by the software enlarging the image. It only has the original 100 to work with. It can guess, but it can't create detail that wasn't there to begin with just by guessing. So the image will look very blurry.

    How do I change images to 1024 x 768 @ 72 DPI & keep their proportions accurate? ?

My MFA program application requires me to send 20 still images (of paintings) on CD-Rom format as my portfolio and requires the images be at 1024 x 768 @ 72 DPI. I have Photoshop (CS3) but am not very skilled with it; when i tried to alter the images to these proportions they end up looking skewed. How to I keep their proportions but re-size them to fit the school's requirements? How do I change images to 1024 x 768 @ 72 DPI %26amp; keep their proportions accurate? ?
I use Photoshop CS so I'm 2 versions behind you, but the following simple things are probably exactly the same:

    Open an image.

Go to menu option Image, Image Size...

Set the Resolution to 72 Pixels/Inch...

In the same box, make sure that the option 麓Constrain Proportions麓 is checked...

Still in the same box, set the Height to 768 pixels...

If this results in a width of 1024 pixels or less, you麓re okay. If not, set the width to 1024 pixels and the height will automatically become less than 768 pixels.

If the original image was larger than this, (most likely the case) set the Resample Image option to Bicubic Sharper. If the original image was smaller, however, set the Resample Image option to Bicubic Smoother....

    Click OK.

The image is now the proper size but you still have to add a border to make the file exactly 1024 x 768 pixels.

Go to menu option Image, Canvas Size...

Set the Width to 1024 pixels

Set the Height to 768 pixels

Set the Anchor in the central box

Select a Canvas Extension color (what color you want the borders to be)

    Click OK

Save this file under a new name and repeat the process for the other 19 files. How do I change images to 1024 x 768 @ 72 DPI %26amp; keep their proportions accurate? ?
try using vso image its realy easy to work with
If your images are not to the same proportion, changing them to 1024x768 will indeed skew things.

You HAVE to crop somewhere, either in length or in width, one or the other, to fit these proportions. Not knowing what size you have it would be a hard call to say which one should be altered.

You have a set # of pixels and when you re size to a different size that is not in the same proportion, you get either scrunch up images, or you get drawn out, stretched ones. Either way, your in a mess if you have to keep the images as they are as far as crop value go.

Can they be re-done and does your camera have that size setting or one with the same porportions..? If not, leave area around the paintings as you take them so you can crop in at these dimensions.

    Good luck..

download a program called irfanview from download.com

or go to a website called lifehacker.com, they have lots of programs that will help you do that. How do I change images to 1024 x 768 @ 72 DPI %26amp; keep their proportions accurate? ?
The problem is that you're trying to put it into specifics that aren't working. It's like trying to take a square and resize it into a rectangle. Not going to work. When you resize, make sure that you're keeping the ratio and just resize either the length or the height. I do that with a lot of pictures that I have to resize to 800 pixels on the long size. Choose the long side and resize to 1024. If the short side is 768 or less, you're fine. If it's greater, you'll need to resize the short size and keep your long size shorter than 1024. I know it's confusing.
If you are just taking one of the corners and dragging it to size. Hold down the ';shift'; key resize to the larger side, then resize the canvas.

Windows Vista display properties advanced settings?

I just bought a new computer. Sadly it has Windows Vista. I am having issues with fonts being too small. Ive changed the DPI. But when I go into desktop and display settings, advanced tab, it will not let me select the font resizing in there. I need to know how to fix this.

I hope this being a 32bit software isnt the issue.

any ideas folks?Windows Vista display properties advanced settings?
If changing the DPI up to 200% magnification is still not large enough for your, then your only solution would be to change the screen resolution.

    =========EDIT=============

There is no need to be rude my friend. I would love to assist you. Plese be more specific as to your problem. Were you not able locate the DPI scaler? This tool is no longer under the Advanced Display Properties, as it was in Windows XP.

HELP~I don't know what is wrong....?

My computer is doing weird things...the screen flashed and got really big(the fonts/icons/etc) then, they got really small. I changed the DPI to make the fonts larger, but it hasn't changed the screen back to normal. What do I do? What happened? My sis in law said it had something to do with Active X or a game that may have been played that caused my computer screen to display something different than before~I don't know...it was fine, until my step son was on it, and now, it is messed up. How do I fix it?

Thanks in advance! XXOHELP~I don't know what is wrong....?
Some games use lower screen resolution like 800x600.

Suppose you have a normal desktop resolution of 1024, then you start a game. The game will temporarily change the resolution to 800 to fit its display. When you exit the game it will again change the resolution back to 1024.

Suppose during the run of game, u went back to desktop somehow with game already open, u will momentarily see the desktop in 800 resolution i.e big icons.

There is nothing wrong in it.

If it happens everytime automaticall then it shows u are having low memory, try increasing ur RAM or u can increase your virtual memory.

According to what you have described it seems to be something with your screen resolution. DO this

Right click anywhere on your desktop and goto properties. Here you will see many tabs goto to the last one settings, in that tab you will see a slider that says screen resolution, You may have a very high screen resolution on. Try and reduce the resolution by moving the slider left and clicking Apply. Find the resolution that satisfies you. Hope that helps.
Get to your desktop display, and right click on an open area of it and select Properties. This will open Display Properties. Now Click on the last tab on the top... this is Settings.... You want to really change your display size. Bet its running in 1024x768. You can reduce it to 800x600. Yuck for games and sych, but easier to read text and such.
When my son plays games and that happens I just restart the computer and that clears it up. Sorry that's the only thing I know.
Try reloading your display drivers. Go to 'control panel', then 'system', then 'device manager', then click on 'monitors'. Right click on 'default monitor' or if you see your monitor listed, right click on it. Click 'update driver'. Follow the prompts from there. Restart your computer, and see if that helped. You may have a nuisance virus. Run a full anti-virus scan in safe mode, and normal mode. Good luck!

(Thanks for the hugs and kisses)
i am sorry i dont to tell you to do something and your computer get worst

How can I change an internet image to 300 DPI?

You need Photoshop or any other paint applications so that you can open your picture and resample it at 300 dpi, then save it as jpeg. Jpeg will create a high resolution but in a small size format due to its compression qualities. How can I change an internet image to 300 DPI?
