Explain 200 dpi nd how to change it..?

i have a casio exilim ex z-850 digital camera. how can i get my camera to take 200 dpi photos? i dont even really know what 200 dpi means except dpi is dots per inch....help????Explain 200 dpi nd how to change it..?
Dots per inch is information that's really geared towards the computer and the printer. If you take a picture with a digital camera, usually it will be at 72 or 75 dots per inch. That's a good ';resolution'; (level of quality--the more pixels or dots per inch, the higher or better the resolution) for viewing things on a computer screen. It's fine for images that you're going to use as wallpaper on your computer, or on a webpage.

Printers, on the other hand, need more dots per inch in order to produce a good image on paper or in a photo print. You can take the same picture that you took with your digital camera and change the number of dots per inch in many photo editing programs (look for an ';image size'; or ';change resolution'; command).

What this will do is take the digital image and change the way the computer and printer look at it. Say that at 75 dots per inch your picture looks like it's 8 inches by 10 inches on the computer screen. When you change the resolution to 150 dots per inch, the computer and printer will interpret that as having to take more dots or pixels and fitting them into the same inch of space. The result will be that when you print out the photo, it will be half the size it was on the computer screen (4 inches by 5 inches). If your photo editing program has rulers on the screen, you should see the change in either the size of the photo on the screen or in the scale on the rulers.

This is why the number of megapixels is key to how big a photo you can actually print from a digital photo without having the print look grainy or coarse. A resolution of 150 dpi is a minimum for a semi-decent print on a printer. Desktop publishers usually aim for pictures with at least 200 dpi. Higher resolutions (say, over 300 dpi) tend to be overkill unless you are using very high end or professional quality printing equipment.

Hope this helps!Explain 200 dpi nd how to change it..?
Most digital cameras shoot at 72 dpi, and the high resolution cameras simply have a larger space to place more of those dots. In order to increase your DPI, you will probably need to use a program like PhotoShop.
