How do I change the DPI in photoshop?

I've read the other answers that were already posted and I was kind of confused. I need to change the DPI to 96 without re-sizing the image. Can someone please tell me step-by-step on how to do this?

Thanks! How do I change the DPI in photoshop?
Once an image's DPI value is set, it wont let you change it without effecting the size attributes. Try this instead:

Create a new Photoshop file with the DPI resolution you want.

Then just copy and paste or drag the layer(s) onto the new ';canvas';. You may have to expand or contract the image to fit into the new space.
