How to increase the font size across all applications in Mac OS X?

I use an external monitor with 1920x1080 resolution for my Unibody MacBook. The font size on web pages, menu bar, iTunes library appear very small making it difficult to read. If I reduce the resolution to 1280x720, the sharpness is lost and everything looks blurred. Is there a way to increase the font size or change the DPI in Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)? How to increase the font size across all applications in Mac OS X?
No, unfortunately there is no way to increase the font size across all applications. In some applications, you can use the Command %26amp; + key combination to increase text size, but that only works in applications like Safari, TextEdit, etc. In the Finder view preferences, you can set the font size for files and folders, but those probably aren't a problem for you.

You are right, reducing the resolution isn't really the way to go. Things will be blurry and you will lose screen space (what was the point of getting the higher resolution monitor if you're not going to use the max resolution).

I think something that might help you out is Control + Scroll. Try this. Hold down the Control key on your keyboard while you scroll in and out (with either the trackpad or a mouse). This will allow you to quickly zoom in on something that is difficult to read, like your iTunes Library.

Probably not the solution you were looking for, but it will allow you to keep using the maximum resolution for your monitor as well as zoom in on those tiny, hard to read spots. How to increase the font size across all applications in Mac OS X?
You can try the options in Universal Access.
