How can i change the dpi of an object in Adobe Illustrator CS3?

I need to change two rectangles that are black into 85dpi.How can i change the dpi of an object in Adobe Illustrator CS3?
Illustrator doesn't really deal in dpi. It's a vector program meaning that it uses points and curves. When you save things for web, you can adjust the dpi there; and when you create a new document you can set the raster effects for dpi. But that's all I know of that you can do in regards to dpi settings in Illustrator. Maybe I'm just not well informed, though...
